Prepared Public Speaking

Research, write, and deliver a polished speech on an agricultural issue — then defend it.

In the Prepared Public Speaking Leadership Development Event, students research and write an original six-to-eight-minute speech on an agricultural topic, deliver it from memory, and answer questions from the judges.

What students do

  • Research and write an original agricultural speech
  • Deliver it with poise, clarity, and expression
  • Support claims with credible evidence
  • Defend their position under questioning

Why it matters

A well-crafted message can move people and change minds. Students build the research, writing, and public-speaking skills that define leaders and advocates.
