Ag Communications

Tell agriculture's story — students plan media campaigns, write and edit, and pitch their work like a professional communications team.

The Agricultural Communications Career Development Event puts students in the role of a professional communications team. They research an agricultural issue, build a media plan, produce written, visual, and digital content, and defend their strategy to a panel of judges.

What students do

  • Develop a communications campaign for a real agricultural issue
  • Write and edit news, feature, and opinion pieces under deadline
  • Design web, social, and broadcast content
  • Pitch and present their plan to a client panel

Why it matters

Agriculture needs storytellers. This event sharpens writing, design, media literacy, and teamwork — the skills behind careers in journalism, marketing, public relations, and ag advocacy.
