1.06 The Amazing Flower
“The Amazing Flower” is a large-group lesson from the Grow Your PALS Program Guide (Plants and Gardening unit) in which students build a paper flower to learn the basic parts of a flower and their functions. Through guided coloring, cutting, gluing, and riddles, students identify the petals, stem, pistil, sepals, and stamen, learn what each part does, and define pollination.

- Picture of lily, tulips or daffodils, or actual sample of one or more of these flowers
- PALS1.6.LG.AS.A – for the instructor
- One copy of PALS1.6.LG.AS.B – one per student, plus extras if needed
- One pair of safety scissors for each student
- One glue stick for each student
- One piece of construction paper per student. Use colors other than green.
- Markers for each student
- Three pipe cleaners for each student – white or yellow
