1.07 Plant System Careers
This middle school lesson (“Plant Systems Careers,” MS.CAS.1.7) is part of the Middle School Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum and introduces students to careers within the plant systems pathway of agriculture. Students brainstorm plant-related careers on a leaf foldable, complete a poster scavenger hunt identifying 10 plant systems careers and their daily tasks, and record their findings in a notebook that is assessed with a rubric.

- Extended classroom activity: Have each student select a career in plant systems and research what type of classes one would take in college to prepare for such a career. FFA activity: Engage in the Agronomy or Floriculture CDE. SAE activity: Start a gardening or florist entrepreneurship.
