1.1 What Do You Call It: An Introduction to Livestock Terminology
This is a middle school agricultural literacy lesson (Lesson MS.AS.1.1, “What Do You Call It? – An Introduction to Livestock Terminology”) from the Pork Checkoff Middle School Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum. Through a shoe-sorting interest approach, a floor-puzzle activity, and a $10,000 Pyramid review game, students learn the proper terms for five livestock species (cattle, sheep, swine, goat, poultry) by gender, maturity, offspring, and agricultural products. The lesson includes transparency masters, term cards, a student terminology chart, and an assessment quiz.
