1.1 What Is Ethanol
“What is Ethanol?” (Renewable Fuels, Unit 1 Lesson 1) is an agricultural education lesson that introduces students to ethanol—what it is, its chemical properties, and its many uses—and explains why ethanol and other alternative fuels are being explored. Through an interest approach using a bushel of corn, a “Go Get It” fact-gathering activity, and an Eyewitness News review, students learn ethanol’s characteristics and the economic and environmental reasons for using it as a fuel. The lesson includes transparency masters and an assessment.
