1.2 A Fishing Trip Into the Aquaculture Industry

This middle school agricultural literacy lesson introduces students to basic terminology of the aquaculture and seafood industry through a hands-on “fishing” matching activity. Students learn and define key terms organized into aquaculture products (fish, crustaceans, shellfish, aquatic plants), methods (capture and culture), and water sources (freshwater, saltwater, brackish), reinforced with a graphic organizer and a terminology quiz.
