1.3 Planes, Trains and Automobiles – A Transportation Tour

This middle school Food and Agricultural Literacy lesson, “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: A Transportation Tour,” teaches students how transportation moves agricultural products from the farm to the consumer. Through an interest approach using food labels, a guided “tour” of image stations, and a class mural activity, students learn the history of food (from hunters and gatherers to civilization and farmer’s markets) and identify at least three modes of food transportation.
