1.3 Salad Investigation

“Salad Investigation” is a middle school Food and Agricultural Literacy lesson (MS.PS.1.3) in which students examine a small salad to identify and classify its components as fruits or vegetables and to determine which of the six basic plant parts (root, stem, leaf, flower, seed, fruit) each food comes from. The lesson includes an interest approach, content on edible plant parts, guided activities with worksheets, an extension drawing activity, and an evaluation.
