1.34 Sweet Tooth: Measuring Sugar in Foods
This is Lesson 1.34 (“Sweet Tooth: Measuring Sugar in Foods”) from the Grow Your PALS Program Guide, part of the National FFA Mentoring Program’s Mathematical Applications unit. In this one-on-one mentoring lesson, a mentor guides a student to form a hypothesis, weigh gum on digital micro-scales before and after chewing to calculate the sugar content, record the data, and discuss healthy versus high-sugar foods using the food pyramid. It includes an evaluation worksheet with answer key and a student data sheet.
