1.4 Agricultural Issues in Animal Agriculture
This middle school lesson, part of the Pork Checkoff Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum, teaches students to evaluate a current animal agriculture issue and conduct a debate. Students use a “What / So What / Now What” sticky-note strategy to organize their thinking about whether animals should be used for scientific research, then divide into prosecution and defense teams to debate the issue using a structured debate format sheet and supporting source readings.
