2.1 Self-Concept and Motivation
This is a leadership development lesson (RNH.2.1 “Self-Concept and Motivation”) from the Reaching New Heights Advisor’s Guide. It introduces students to self-concept and its components (self-esteem, self-image, self-confidence, self-determination, self-responsibility), the factors that shape it, and how a positive self-concept can be built and how it influences motivation and performance. The lesson includes display materials, a ladder activity, and a homework worksheet.

- The purpose of this lesson is to introduce students to the subject of self-concepts and the critical role it plays in their lives, including their level of self-motivation.
