2.2 A Tent off the Pathway

This middle school lesson (“A Tent off the Pathway,” Lesson MS.IAS.2.2) is part of the Pork Checkoff Middle School Food and Agriculture Literacy Curriculum and teaches the diversity of the agricultural industry through its six career pathways: Ornamental Horticulture, Ag Mechanics, Ag Business, Animal Science, Forestry, and Plant Science. Students create a foldable “knowledge tent,” build pathway collages from research, and gallery-walk to learn about each pathway. The lesson includes an interest approach, teaching content, review/summary, application activities, and a fill-in-the-blank assessment.

  • Poster board – one per group
  • Glue sticks or tape
