2.2 Agricultural Research Goals

This middle school lesson, “Agriculture Research Goals” (Lesson MS.AST.2.2) from the Middle School Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum, teaches students to recognize the outcomes of agricultural research. Through an interest approach using addition methods, a graphic-organizer booklet activity, and a Dickens e-Moment creative writing review, students connect five agricultural research goals—nutritional outcomes/reduced foodborne illness, enhanced biosecurity, animal welfare, environmental benefits, and more/varied products—to real-life outcomes and the role of innovative problem solving.
