2.5 Research in Agriculture

This middle school lesson (“Research in Agriculture,” Lesson MS.AST.2.5) from the Middle School Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum teaches students one way the scientific method is used in agricultural research. Through a letter-unscrambling activity, informational reading, and flowchart creation, students explore agricultural research outcomes—xenotransplantation, gene splicing, pesticides, biofuel, and global positioning systems—and the steps and barriers of the scientific method. It includes teacher scripts, transparency masters, an interest approach, review activity, and a multiple-choice assessment with answer key.
