This middle school agricultural literacy lesson (“Where’s the Beef Come From?”) teaches students the three common production systems used to raise beef cattle in the United States: cow/calf production, backgrounding, and feedlot finishing. Through a creative song-writing group activity, note-taking, and drawing, students identify the methods and characteristics of each stage. The resource includes an interest approach, content outline, student handouts, and a five-question quiz with answer key.
