2.7 Where’s the Beef Come From

This middle school agricultural literacy lesson (“Where’s the Beef Come From?”) teaches students the three common production systems used to raise beef cattle in the United States: cow/calf production, backgrounding, and feedlot finishing. Through a creative song-writing group activity, note-taking, and drawing, students identify the methods and characteristics of each stage. The resource includes an interest approach, content outline, student handouts, and a five-question quiz with answer key.
