3.1 The Food Pyramid
This is Lesson 3.1, “The Food Pyramid,” from the Grow Your PALS Program Guide (National FFA Mentoring Program), part of the Food and Nutrition unit. It is a large-group lesson that teaches students the food groups of the food pyramid, recommended daily servings, tips for meeting those servings, and ways to substitute healthier fruit and vegetable snacks for less healthy ones. The lesson includes an interest approach, content outline, teaching strategies, assignment sheets, teaching masters, an assessment with answer key, and application ideas.
