3.11 Healthy Lifestyles Mobile

This is Lesson 3.11 (“Healthy Lifestyles Mobile”) from the National FFA Grow Your PALS Program Guide, part of the Exercise unit. In this large-group mentoring lesson, mentors guide their PALS to create a week-long sleep diary (with Sleep and Energy Meters) to explore how sleep affects daily energy, observe a bone-stress simulation using polarizing filters and a plastic fork to learn how weight-bearing exercise strengthens bones, and build a “Healthy Lifestyles Mobile” to reinforce long-term healthy habits.

Time required
Instruction time for this lesson: 50 minutes. Also, after a week, a follow-up meeting of approximately 15 minutes should be held to discuss the results of the sleep diary information.
