3.15 And the Beat Goes On
“And The Beat Goes On!” is a one-on-one mentoring lesson from the Grow Your PALS Program Guide (Exercise unit) in which a mentor helps a PALS student build a model stethoscope from kitchen funnels and tubing, listen to their heartbeat, and calculate their heart rate. Students count heartbeats for 10 seconds and multiply by 6 to determine heart rate, connecting the skill to participating in a fitness program.
