3.3 Non-Automotive Use of Ethanol
This is a 60-minute FFA lesson plan (Renewable Fuels, Unit 3 Lesson 3) on the non-automotive uses of ethanol. Students watch a video on ethanol production, examine small-equipment owner’s manuals to determine ethanol compatibility, unscramble engine manufacturer names, and learn that ethanol blends (such as E10) can power motorcycles, lawn mowers, small engines, watercraft, and ATVs. The lesson concludes with a “Picasso Moment” creative review activity.
