3.4 Serving Size, Hydration and Digestion
This is Lesson 3.4 (“Serving Size, Hydration and Digestion”) from the Grow Your PALS Program Guide, part of the National FFA Mentoring Program’s Food and Nutrition unit. In this small-group lesson, students examine snack packaging labels to determine and compare serving sizes, identify common ingredients in foods with large versus small serving sizes, and conduct a coffee-filter/drink-mix activity to learn why water is important in aiding digestion. It includes an interest approach, teaching strategies, application ideas, and a short-response assessment with answer key.
