3.5 Embarking on Food Marketing

This middle school Food Science lesson, “Embarking on Food Marketing,” introduces students to agricultural food marketing and the marketing infrastructure for agricultural commodities. Through an interest approach using fast food icons, direct instruction on terms like Certified Angus Beef, vertical integration, commodities, and commodity markets, and a group poster activity, students learn how products are marketed and traded from farm to restaurant. It includes a matching assessment to evaluate understanding of key terms.
