4.1 Developing Interview Skills
This Reaching New Heights lesson (RNH.4.1, “Developing Interview Skills”) introduces students to interview skills and helps prepare them to apply these skills in a positive fashion. It covers preparing for an interview, anticipating common questions, body language, conduct during the interview, and follow-up letters, and includes a “Preparing for an Interview” student worksheet plus a role-play/interview practice activity.

- The purpose of this lesson is to introduce students to interview skills and help prepare them to apply these skills in a positive fashion.

- 1. Good interviewees are able to "sell themselves" in an interview. What are some catch phrases used in television advertisements that would be neat to hear interviewees say about themselves in an interview? 2. What negative habits might a person have that would not be beneficial to display in an interview? Think about what habits you might have that you should be aware of. 3. What are some thoughts an employer might have about you if you were less than prepared for an interview or had misspellings in a thank you letter?
