4.2 Who Is Taking a Stand
This middle school lesson, “Who Is Taking a Stand?” (part of the Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum), teaches students to distinguish between animal welfare and animal rights and to identify organizations associated with each. Using a rock-in-water “ripple effect” demonstration, a K-W-L chart, and Internet research, students explore how these groups and the media impact production agriculture practices.
