4.3 The Truth Behind the Label
This middle school food science lesson, “The Truth behind the Label,” teaches students about common food claims found on food product labels and the FDA specifications that govern their use. Through a creative packaging activity, individual analysis of nutrition labels, and an acting-out review game, students learn to interpret and make accurate health claims and descriptive terms based on a food’s nutrition facts.
