4.5 Controversy in Showing and Raising Livestock
This middle school lesson (MS.AI.4.5, “Controversy in Showing and Raising Livestock”) examines the negative and positive aspects of showing and raising show livestock and connects them to animal welfare concerns. Students explore the agricultural issue of animal welfare versus animal rights, then work in groups to create a 30-second commercial promoting how showing livestock can positively impact animal welfare. It is part of the Middle School Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum.
