5.1 Perceptions vs. Reality

This middle school lesson, “Perceptions vs. Reality” from the Food and Agriculture Literacy Curriculum, helps students distinguish between perception and reality and explore how their views and opinions about agriculture and FFA are formed. Through detective-themed activities, Playdoh sculpting, scenario analysis, and FFA membership statistics, students discover that agriculture exists in both rural and urban settings and that perceptions are shaped by people, media, and experiences.
