5.2 Characteristics of Agriculturalists

This middle school lesson, part of the Pork Checkoff Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum, helps students examine perceptions of agriculturalists and recognize the diversity of people involved in agriculture today. Through an interest-approach photo voting activity, a definition-building exercise, a survey, and a “4-Corners” game, students identify three characteristics of a modern agriculturalist and learn facts about women, minority, and other agriculturalists in the United States.
