5.2 Would You Believe It’s for a Tree
This middle school lesson, “Would You Believe It’s from a Tree?” (Lesson MS.NR.5.2), is part of the Natural Resources Science: Forestry unit in the Middle School Food and Agricultural Literacy Curriculum. Students explore forestry products and learn that over 5,000 useful materials come from trees through wood, cellulose, bark, sap, and fruit/leaf/seed sources. Through a hands-on sorting activity, a tree-map organizer, and an Eyewitness News review, students describe forest products and identify which part of a tree they originate from.
