7.2 Compost It

“Compost It!” is a primary-level lesson from Unit 7: Environment that teaches students the basics of composting and recycling. Through an interest approach using a dead plant named “Fred,” a hands-on “Soil Stroll” to collect organic matter, and a guided activity building a compost container, students learn how decaying organic material breaks down into nutrient-rich soil and how composting is a form of recycling.
