9.4 Puzzled Project Planning
“Puzzled Project Planning” is a Reaching New Heights leadership lesson that teaches the essential elements of project planning through a hands-on jigsaw puzzle activity. Student groups write and follow step-by-step plans to assemble puzzles, then debrief on the importance of thorough planning before applying “The 11 W’s of Project Planning” worksheet to an upcoming class event or fundraiser.

- 4-6 small, commercial jigsaw puzzles (approximately 70 pieces each; can be purchased new at stationery stores or used at many second-hand stores)
- Pencil and paper – one set per group

- Purpose
- The purpose of this activity is to teach the essential elements of project planning. This activity can be used the day before you begin a large class project, school activity, or fund-raising project.
