Abbey Rinker – SAE – Horse Showing Lesson Plan

“SAEs: It Takes a Village” is a quick FFA lesson plan in which students watch a video about an FFA member’s horse-showing SAE and complete an accompanying worksheet to identify the resources and personal connections needed to develop a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) project. Through discussion and an inventory activity, students explore how individuals in their lives can help them plan and launch SAE opportunities in their school or community.

Horse Showing SAE

Abbey Rinker, a 10th grader from Virginia, shares her experience with an equine SAE project. She discusses her daily routine of grooming, riding, and training her horse, with support from her family. Abby talks about the challenges of training a new horse and the need for consistency and patience. She dreams of showing horses in college and pursuing a career as a farrier or mounted police officer, encouraging others to seek support and persist in their projects.
