Activity 6: Who Decides at the Local Level
A role-play activity in which students assume the roles of community stakeholders (e.g., a small consumer, a large grain producer, a food company owner, an animal rights advocate, a grocery store owner) to research and debate the essential question, “Who should be able to direct the future of the agriculture industry?” Students use a graphic organizer and stakeholder profile sheets to prepare a presentation, participate in a simulated community meeting, then complete a reflection activity. The packet includes the activity worksheet, stakeholder note boxes, profile sheet, reflection sheet, and a grading rubric.
