Lesson Plans & Curriculum

Leadership on the GO! is a “grab-and-go” library of short leadership activities created by the LifeKnowledge Center for Agricultural Education (a special project of the National FFA Foundation) for use inside and outside the classroom. The book contains icebreakers, team-building, communication, relationships, and problem-solving activities, each broken into Title, Description, Directions, Connection Questions, Wrap-up, Quick Reference, Research Methodologies, and a LifeKnowledge Reference. Activities emphasize auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning to help students listen, lead, and learn while building leadership skills.

  • Open space to perform activities
  • Desks, chairs, book bags (objects to build an obstacle trail)
  • Blindfold
  • Masking tape (to make a floor grid/board)
  • Optional paper crowns
  • Star patterns, scissors
  • Peanut butter, jelly, bread (or non-edible alternatives)
  • Public drawing surface
  • Pictures (or Communication: AS.1-5)
  • Crazy Communication Cards (Communication: AS.6)
  • Impromptu topics (Communication: AS.7) and a container
  • Balloons
  • Three tennis balls
  • Five canisters/containers and small items
  • Plastic or foam cups and ball of string/yarn
  • Maps of the United States or computer access
  • Dictionary or Internet access
  • Activity sheets / handouts (Team Building AS.1 & AS.2, Relationships AS.1, AS.2 & AS.3)
