Are You Really Listening

A “Soft” Skills Integration lesson from the National FFA Organization titled “Are You Really Listening?” that uses hands-on activities (a blindfolded listening maze and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich walk-through) to teach the importance of listening skills. Students work in pairs and small groups to give and follow clear directions, then debrief on their experiences to build communication and teamwork habits for the classroom and workplace.

Materials
  • Bandana or other item that can be used as a blindfold.
  • Tables and chairs that can be used to make a maze within the room.
  • Bread.
  • Jelly.
  • Peanut butter (if a student has a peanut allergy, use only jelly or another substance).
  • Butter knife.
