Butter Making

This Food for America demonstration plan teaches agricultural processing through a hands-on butter-making activity, in which students shake heavy cream in mason jars to produce butter and buttermilk. It helps students understand that processing means taking one raw product and turning it into different usable products. The plan includes an introduction, step-by-step procedures, adaptations for upper elementary, and a concluding discussion.
