Food Labeling Guide (PDF) FDA
“A Food Labeling Guide” is an FDA Guidance for Industry document that summarizes the required statements and recommendations for labeling food products under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act, and the NLEA. Using a question-and-answer format, it covers general labeling requirements, the name of food, net quantity of contents, ingredient lists, food allergen labeling, nutrition labeling and Nutrition Facts formats, serving sizes, exemptions, and nutrient content, health, qualified health, and structure/function claims. It is intended to help manufacturers, distributors, and importers properly label food products sold in the United States.
