Humane Society SAE – Nichole Ford

This National FFA lesson plan, “Humane Society SAE Video,” uses a video of a student’s SAE at a local humane society as the springboard for teaching dog nutrition. Students learn the six essential nutrients for dogs and their functions, the importance of meeting an animal’s nutritional needs, and how to analyze and recommend ideal dog food choices for various dogs and scenarios. It includes student worksheets (“Savory Treats,” “Selecting an Ideal Dog Food”), a supplemental animal nutrition handout, and answer keys.
