Lesson 06 – Drinking Water Safety – Health Concerns and Testing

This is Lesson 6 (“Drinking Water Health Concerns and Testing”) of the USDA-NRCS/National FFA “Drinking Water: Protecting the Source” curriculum. It introduces high school students to common drinking water contaminants, their sources, and their potential human health impacts, and explains who is responsible for testing public and private drinking water. The lesson includes a card-matching group activity, slide presentations, a homework simulation analyzing water test results for a fictional municipal water plant, and assessment worksheets.
