Lesson 5 – Supply Chain
This is lesson 5 of 8 in a National FFA/Valent USA lesson series on sustainability in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Value Chain. In this 90-minute lesson, students learn the components of the food supply chain, the direction products and capital flow, the difference between agricultural imports and exports, and how to calculate food product costs using recipe costing (applied to a trail mix product). It includes a bell ringer, group activities, and three student worksheets (“Go Get It,” “Which Way Are You Traveling?,” and “Sourcing and Determining Costs”).

Through this lesson series, students will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of sustainability throughout the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Value Chain.
