Between workshops and guest speakers, campers take a mile-long trek into the woods to see a huge oak tree, also known as “The Big Tree.”
2. Summer Outdoor Leadership Retreat | Donnelly, Idaho
Idaho FFA hosts its camp on Lake Cascade, which features “survival challenges.” Campers are divided into small groups and are tasked with creating a team name, flag and chant. Last year, campers built cardboard boats and raced to the finish line on the water.
3. Alumni Leadership Camp | Wagoner, Okla.
Oklahoma held its first camp in 1930 on grounds purchased by local chapters. After a brief pause, camps resumed in 1973, thanks to support from the state’s Alumni Council. Today’s sessions are held at Camp Tulakogee.
4. North Carolina FFA Center at White Lake | Elizabethtown, N.C.
At the second oldest FFA camp in the U.S., waterball (a sport similar to softball, but played in the water) is a fan-favorite activity. Campers use a kickball and wooden bat, and have the chance to “run” the bases.
