The Golden Valley FFA in Merced, Calif., is pioneering a unique turf and sports field management opportunity for its members. It’s one of their schools’ fastest growing classes for established and new agriculture students. Students have toured Pebble Beach golf course, Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, and this year, two students were selected to help the University of Southern California get its football field, the Coliseum, ready for its home opener. In this video, Golden Valley FFA advisor Kevin Magill and participating FFA members discuss the turf management process, share the agricultural principles they learn and the unique ag careers it is preparing them for.
