Marin Lonnee | 2022 American Star in Agriscience

Marin Lonnee of the Oconee County High School FFA Chapter in Watkinsville, Georgia, is the 2022 American Star in Agriscience winner. Her SAE focused on sustainable solutions for rural Georgia communities, spanning nine years of research that included bee colony collapse disorder, gummy stem blight resistance in watermelon (where she discovered two new fungus species), and fescue pasture management at the University of Georgia. Growing up in suburban Georgia without a farm background, she credits her parents and ag advisors for supporting her path into agriscience research.
