This is an instructional unit (Lesson Four: Pest and Beneficial Insects, part of a Nursery/Landscape Unit One on Identification) that teaches students to identify common landscape/garden pests and the beneficial insects that prey on them. It covers each pest’s overview, symptoms, and prevention/treatment (chemical and cultural), as well as beneficial insects such as lacewings, lady beetles, spiders, praying mantises, and paper wasps used in integrated pest management.
