This is a reference handout (Appendix 1: Soil Organisms) that profiles ten common soil organisms — earthworms, mycorrhizal fungi, springtails, nematodes, actinomycetes, mites, protozoa, ants, grubs (larval beetles), and bacteria. For each organism it describes its role in soil health and the conditions in which it thrives or declines, illustrated with a photo.
