Appendix 10: Let’s Talk It Out

This is a student worksheet (Appendix 10: “Let’s Talk It Out”) that has learners practice constructing counterclaims. Using animal rendering information from Darling Ingredients and other reliable research, students complete a set of counterclaim sentence starters for both the animal rendering topic and a self-selected misunderstood topic, then reflect on how counterclaims support effective, nonconfrontational conversation about misunderstood topics.
