Kami Harmon – Sheep SAE

This National FFA lesson plan, “Sheep,” uses FFA member Kami Harmon’s supervised agricultural experience (SAE) of caring for and showing lambs as a springboard to teach students about sheep production. Through a video-based worksheet and a research worksheet, students learn how to care for show sheep, research popular meat and wool breeds, identify the primal cuts of lamb, and examine the structure of wool fiber. The resource includes student activity sheets and answer keys.

Lamb SAE

Kami Harmon, an 11th grader from Athens, Tennessee, shares her supervised agriculture experience with lambs. She details her daily routine of feeding and training them, highlighting her journey towards independence, inspired by her sister. Kami emphasizes the importance of record-keeping for her SAE and advises others to choose projects they enjoy, drawing on her own experience with a plant SAE that didn’t align with her interests. Her journey has grown from one lamb to five.
