Lesson 3: Animal Production

This is the third of six National FFA Organization quick lesson plans on Animal Production, focused on food-producing animals. Through a “Match” worksheet, a “Teach the World” news-broadcast research project, grocery price comparisons, and a “Nutrition Choices” activity using MyPlate and Nutrition.gov, students learn how major food animals are raised and managed, animal welfare concerns, how production practices affect consumer food costs, and the role of animal-based foods in nutrition. The resource includes student activity sheets, a presentation rubric, and answer keys.
