Lesson 5 Impacting Hunger Locally, Statewide, Nationally and Globally

This lesson, “Impacting Hunger Locally, Statewide, Nationally and Globally,” is part of the Today’s Challenges; Today’s Leaders (TCTL) series and focuses on examining the hunger epidemic and ways students can help reduce world hunger. Students research hunger programs at four levels (local, state, national, global) using assignment sheets, then present their findings and discuss how personal actions can make an impact. The lesson aims to develop an understanding of living a compassionate and selfless life.

Purpose
This lesson will focus on examining the hunger epidemic and recognize ways that students can make an impact in reducing world hunger. By recognizing the varying degrees of hunger that exist locally and globally, students will develop an understanding of living a compassionate and selfless life.
