Lesson Plan 5 – Extemporaneous Public Speaking

This National FFA Organization lesson plan introduces students to the FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking LDE and provides practice preparing and delivering speeches with limited prep time. Through warm-up activities, a quote-based speech outline worksheet, peer/group scoring with the official LDE rubric, and a group storytelling exercise, students learn to research, write, and deliver an extemporaneous speech. It includes student handouts, a list of quote and agricultural topics, a scoring rubric, and an answer key.
